Whoopsadaisy is a friendly charity based in beautiful Preston Park, supporting children with physical disabilities and their families across Brighton & Hove and surrounding areas. We support children and young people with cerebral palsy and other movement difficulties through Conductive Education and Occupational Therapy. Volunteering with us is a meaningful way to get involved in your local community.
Our service supports children with Cerebral Palsy or other motor difficulties and our volunteers take an active and supportive role in these sessions. At Whoopsadaisy, we provide conductive education and occupational therapy, and volunteers not only learn about this service, but also gain hands-on experience working with children with physical challenges.
Benefits
Working as part of a dynamic and supportive team, you can gain valuable experience with children with physical disabilities, expanding your knowledge and skill base to support you in your future.
You will feel accomplished and appreciated, as you will enable us to provide the children with the 1:1 support they need; we simply couldn’t run our services without you!
Practical Considerations
Volunteers’ responsibilities include taking initiative in helping to set up and clean before and after sessions, supporting and assisting leaders of the session and being an active, enthusiastic and engaged team member to help create a positive environment in sessions!
We ask volunteers to commit to 2 terms, attending sessions at least bi-weekly.
Support Disabled
Volunteers receive a comprehensive induction outlining our expectations, responsibilities, and guidelines. Full training is provided by experienced professionals and session leaders to ensure volunteers feel confident and well-prepared. Ongoing support and resources are also available throughout their time with us.Skills
Patience, empathy, good communication, and a willingness to learn.
Volunteers should be reliable, respectful, and able to support children in a positive, inclusive way.
